Additional Supports

Income
The Disability Support Pension (DSP) and the Carer Payment are the primary income support payments for people with a reduced capacity to work due to disability or caring for someone with disability.
NDIS
Supports and services delivered for people eligible under the National Disability Association . NDIS participants plans should help people with disability have the same things in life as other people, like somewhere to live, a job, hobbies and the company of families and friends.
Participants choose and pay for supports and services out of an individually allocated budget based on their goals.
Supports and services for participants fall into three categories: core, capital and capacity building.

Core: A support that helps a participant complete daily living activities.

Capital: A support for an investment, such as assistive technologies, equipment and home or vehicle modifications, or funding for capital costs (e.g. to pay for Specialist Disability Accommodation).

Capacity building: A support that helps a participant build their independence and skills.

Education Funding
The Higher Education Disability Support Program provides funding to eligible higher education providers, to assist with supporting students with disability to access, participate and succeed in higher education

Disability Support for Veterans
If your disability is a result of your time in the service, you may be eligible for other benefits so here is a link to the QLD Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Queensland Government Totally and Permanently Incapacitated/Extreme Disablement Adjustment Veteran Travel Pass (TPI/EDA Veteran Travel Pass) entitles eligible TPI/EDA ex-service men and women to unlimited free travel on approved public transport services. The pass is valid for five years from the date of issue.
The TPI/EDA Veteran Travel Pass is available to Queensland residents who hold a Commonwealth Department of Veterans’ Affairs Repatriation Health Card – for All Conditions (Gold), that is embossed TPI or EDA. Spouses, partners and dependants of TPI/EDA veterans may be eligible for concessional travel on Queensland Rail long distance rail services.

NDIS program funds support and care services to help children and adults living with a disability to live their life to the fullest and achieve their goals.
My Aged Care is the Australian Governments website and contact centre that is considered the starting point for all older Australians to access Government funded in home support options, community care or residential aged care.
